A Swedish passport and national ID card are official government-issued documents available only to Swedish citizens. Applications must be completed in person at designated Police Passport Offices within Sweden, following the procedures set by Swedish authorities.
Who Can Apply:
Swedish citizens aged 18 years or older living in Sweden may apply independently. Applicants under 18 years of age must provide written consent from all legal guardians and attend the application appointment in person.

-
Your previous passport, if still valid
-
Any required guardian consent forms for minors
Photographs are taken on-site at the passport office, so no external photos are needed.

Accepted forms of identification include:
-
Valid Swedish passport

-

Most passport offices accept card payments.
Booking an Appointment:
Appointments must be booked in advance. New appointment slots are released regularly, and applicants are advised to check availability frequently through official booking systems.
Processing & Collection:
Passports and national ID cards are typically ready within five working days. Collection must be done in person at the same passport office, and applicants must bring their receipt.
Provisional Passports:
A provisional passport is issued only for urgent travel. Applicants must confirm:

Travel dates
-
Destination country acceptance of provisional passports
Not all passport offices issue provisional passports. Minors must be accompanied by a guardian.
Lost or Stolen Documents:
If your passport or national ID card is lost or stolen:
-
Report it immediately to the police
-
The document will be blocked for security reasons
-
A new application must be submitted
If a lost document is later found, it must be handed in for cancellation and must not be used again.

If your passport or national ID card is lost while outside Sweden, contact the nearest Swedish embassy or consulate for assistance.
Important Notice:
Swedish passports and national ID cards cannot be purchased online or issued through third parties. Any website or individual offering such services is not authorized. Always apply through official Swedish authorities to ensure legality and security.
